Had the check-in been smooth it’d be a 5 star experience. So that’s why I give the resort 3 stars instead of 1. So as a successful businessman here is free advice.Have your house cleaning staff report any rooms that have been smoked in that are “non-smoking” and IMMEDIATELY bring in a fan and ventilation and do something about it! DO NOT, do nothing and act as if that’s the way it is, take it or leave it! So we were given room 821 a gorgeous room with a great view. So we went back down to the front desk and asked for a “real” non-smoking room and after being told there weren’t any and my wife said, “we’ll wait”, all of a sudden, magically there was a room. I smoked for 30 years so am not particularly sensitive to the smell but this was more like a cigar lounge. We were given a room on the 5th floor and when we opened the door the smoke smell was overwhelming and probably the worse I’d ever experienced and after having traveled in 42 countries I have a little bit of experience. Hotels need to be no smoking, period! We usually stay in Hilton properties which are all no smoking so rarely run into a problem where the previous residents smoked in the room.
